Possible motivations:1) Entity is attempting to warn humanity about something, failing due to massive issues in communication.

It's trying to prepare us for something but it can't figure out how to tell us what's coming our way in a way we can understand.2) Entity is, effectively, a manifestation of The End Is Nigh - Not the end of the world itself, but that panic and paranoia, that creeping dread and unshakable despair and sense of crushing doom.
